Echmiadzin

Echmiadzin (renamed into Vagharshapat in 1992, but the name Echmiadzin is still used on some road signs, on the windshields of taxis, and in everyday Armenian speech) is the fourth largest city in the country, located in the Ararat Valley, 20 km west of Yerevan. It is the residence of the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
